Toucan Films’ initial business is to produce stories (films) showcasing the triumph of Man’s spiritual and metaphysical greatness that inspire, educate and entertain for the theatrical, broadcast and non-broadcast markets. These projects will originate with Toucan Films, or be a co-production with one or more production partners (domestic or foreign) or be at the request of a client entity (work-for-hire). Projects could take the form of documentary or drama that might come from literature genres like spiritual fiction, mystery, romance and action. Filtered out will be stories that show no sense of responsibility for what is put out there or depend on shock value only for their storyline. Toucan Films was incorporated in Feb. 2005.

The founder, Susan Barta, has been active in some facet of Communications for over 25 years; she has served in marketing roles, as Director of Technology for a public broadcast station, in installation and training for newspaper systesm. A creative and imaginative person, her entrepreneurial spirit has prompted her into many "self taught' situations, but always to package and deliver a message or Idea. Starting in radio with producing "Unity In You", a weekly talk radio program inviting people from all walks of life to discuss spiritual and metaphysical topics, (renamed "Unity Viewpoint" it is a replay of a Sunday lesson by Rev. Bettie Barta airing on WICR 88.7 (Indianapolis; wicr.uindy.edu) at 4:30p Sunday), she has always been a visual person with experience in still photography and theatre. She is also a published author, having written a novel and several articles.

She holds a M.A. Producing Film and Video from American University (Washington, D.C.), has a B.A. in Electronic Media from Indiana University
